Visit to Finchcocks Museum 27th August
- Created: Monday, 06 July 2015 09:59
Finchcocks museum of music is situated south of Lamberhurst in Kent. It houses a collection of antique keyboard instruments and the museum's owners, Richard and Katrina Burnett, invited John to visit with a few musical students from the choirs to give a recital on the 27th August Open Day. The museum has regular events and recently hosted a BBC Radio 3 Live in concert programme of the Pianist Melvyn Tan playing on historic instruments of the type the composers, Mozart, Muthel and Beethoven would have played. The museum has many visitors on its open days who come to hear the invited musicians, the history of the house and to play the keyboards themselves.
"What a wonderful outing today!
All our musicians performed with great dedication and were very much appreciated by their audience. I know that I am always saying this, but it is true: I was very proud of you! Amongst our audience was the now 90-year-old conductor and broadcaster Kenneth Alwyn. I only realised afterwards who had spoken to me! He was hugely impressed with the standard of playing and singing. (Do google him - he has been a BIG name!)
Thanks for taking the time to come (parents as well). Another triumph for the Choirs and a good advert for music in BR3!
Well done - see you on Wednesday 9th,
"Hello John That was really super- what a lovely bunch of musicians you brought to Finchcocks, - everyone thoroughly enjoyed the performances. Beautifully selected with lots of variety. Please thank everyone concerned.
