Our History

An informal concert 15th October

Just 6 weeks into the season and Beckenham Youth Voices and guests performed a very enjoyable concert for parents and friends. Thanks to Revd. Neil Draisey and the Elm Road Baptist Church for welcoming us and the use of the church.
youth voices concert about to startWe were also joined by a former choir member Gemma Bell who captured the audience with "Wishing you were somehow here again" from Phantom of the opera. It is a delight to have guest singers like Gemma, whose voices grow in strength and maturity, return to showcase singing talents, having started out with BJC and Youth Voices.  Solos from Youth Voices including Sabrina, Tiziri, Megan, Malini, and Ivan were performed with vigour, vitality, grace, poise and presence (in that order...) An informal concert means that when the pianist and guitarist do not start out in the same key, we all smile and start again... What a treat it was to hear Aisling playing Bach on Saxophone. Thanks also to Jenny Fraser for her piano accompaniment.
some choir parents joined in

Some parents and friends took to the stage alongside the choir for two anthems - adding a little depth to the sound and looking happy to be there too!

This concert was Rounded off by some excellent refreshments with a "welcome" chocolate cake for ournewly-joined members.

So in summary a lovely concert with a lovely bake-off to finish!
