Picnic in the park
The Croydon Road Recreation Ground bandstand has seen many musicians come and go in its 100-year history.
We are proud to add Beckenham Junior Choir and Youth Voices to that number! The sun came out and if one imagined hard enough, it really was a Summer's day!
There is a gallery of photographs taken by Nick Charles of this splendid concert on the Photobox site, where you can order prints if you wish. Remember to enter your choir password to see the photographs, just your password not the username for this gallery.
Thanks for the invitation from Stephen Tickner of the Friends of Croydon Road Rec. and the use of comfy deckchairs and a PA system.
The choirs sounded wonderful with another chance to play some favourites - Jonah Man Jazz was splendid!
A big thanks to our soloists and instumentalists and with the addition of a footbal or two, a good time was had by all. Please let us know if you enjoyed yourselves - we shall try to do this again!

Our new PA system
We have purchased and used our own new sound system at the last couple of concerts. The equipment is going to be so useful in the future when we are at those Churches and halls not used to reinforcing the sound of a choir, a very big thank you to those whose donations have made this possible. We need to find a home for it between outings though, as Elm Rd. Church has no more secure space for us.
Do any of you have room in a clean, dry, indoor area to accommodate 2 large boxes, 1 smaller one, a couple of storage crates and some stands? Please contact John if you can help with storing or transporting this new choir equipment.
Just a notice that Photographs of the Elm Road Summer concert can now be found in the members photo galleries. Please email me if you do not know your login details for them.

My special "thank you" to a few people who rushed there from other events.
I thought that the singing was very good and Youth Voices managed very well on slightly smaller numbers than usual, with lots of Year 6s coming up trumps!
Well done, too, to the pianists and guitarists (two that night)! The Junior Choir has both experienced older members and quite new younger singers working together and doing us great credit.
Thanks also to Chris Kendall for taking some great photographs, you can see photographs of the concert at St.James's North Cray here. You will need to enter your password, if you do not have have one yet please contact John for that!
I hope to see many of you at the picnic; term has otherwise ended and we
return in September.

Our concert at Emmanuel URC at West Wickham
Once again over 100 people in the audience at Emmanuel were treated to a warm Summer evening concert given by our young singers and instrumentalists. We were especially pleased to have David O'Hanlon as a guest soloist. David was a member of the Junior Choir until 2000. He will be studying with the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama in Glasgow from this Autumn.
His clear and confident solo performances were beautifully delivered, and will be an inspiration for our young choir members!
There are some excellent photographs taken by Nick Charles of rehearsals and concert. There are lots to see - see if you can spot yourself! You will need to enter your choir login username and password to see them:
